SIT stands for Special Investigation Team. It is a special investigating agency , which is appointed to investigate a specific case.

"The Special Investigation Teams or SIT are specialized teams of police officers in Indian law enforcement, comprised of professionals who have been specially trained to look into the grave criminal case.

The SIT was created after it was discovered that the agencies in place are not perceived to be able to conduct an appropriate investigation into the issue.

Do you knowthe reason why a the special investigation team gets required or appointed? it's because it's established that the agency isn't able to conduct a thorough investigation into the situation or it is lodged against high-profile individuals that could affect the investigation of the current agency.

The team of special investigators is hired through the high court of India or the state government.

The team is able to investigate the incident and then prepares a written report to be present in the court.

The report goes for scrutiny at all the stages of appeal.

The court is able to accept or reject the report.

If the study is not accepted or not accepted, then the appellate court has to determine the fate of the case.

CBI is an executive agency that was established under the Delhi Police special Establishment Act While the SITs(Special Investigators Team) are bodies created on a temporary basis from regularly for investigation of grievances or issues. SITs can be formed by the Judiciary as well as the Parliament or state legislatures. They are entrusted with the responsibility of deciding on a case-by-case basic.
