National Cadet Corps

about the NCCThe National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet regiment with its headquarters in New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis.The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. The cadets receive basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets bear no obligation for active military service when they have completed their training, however they have a higher priority than normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

Aims of NCC

1.To create qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline and leadership the spirit of adventure, sportsmanship as well as the ideals of selfless service among youth to help them become a productive citizen.

2.To create a human resources with a well-trained and organized youngsters who will provide leadership across all areas of life including that of the Armed Forces and be always in the service of the nation.

"I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that, I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Crops. Further under the command and control of my commanding officer I will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly".

We , the cadets from the national cadet corps do solemnly pledge that we will always defend the unity of india.We will strive to be a an upright and responsible citizen of our nation.We shall undertake positive community service with a attitude of selflessness and concern towards our fellow human beings.

NCC History

The NCC in India was formed with the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It was established on July 15th, 1948. National Cadet Corps can be seen as a successor to the University Officers Training Corps (UOTC) that was founded in 1942 by British in 1942. British during 1942. In the course of World War II, the UOTC failed to meet the standards set by British. This led to the notion that some better schemes were needed to be created, which could help train young men in a better way at all times, even during peacetime. A committee headed by Pandit H.N. Kunzru suggested a cadet association to be created in schools and colleges at a nationwide level. This National Cadet Corps Act is signed from the Governor General. Then, on July 15th, 1948, the National Cadet Corps was brought into existence.

During the wars of 1965 and 1971 between the United States and Pakistan, NCC cadets were the second line of defence. They organized camps to help the factories for ordinance, providing ammunition and arms to the front, and were also used as patrol parties to capture enemy paratroopers. The NCC Academy cadets also worked in tandem with Civil Defence authorities and actively engaged in rescue efforts as well as traffic management. Following the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak conflict, the NCC syllabus was updated. In addition to being the secondary line of defense, the NCC syllabus put greater stress on developing qualities of leadership as well as Officer-like traits. The military-related training that NCC students received was trimmed and more emphasis was placed on other areas such as youth-management and social service.
